Ben Fordham has paid tribute to his former Ninja Warrior co-star Rebecca Maddern after she sensationally quit Nine.

The radio king took to Instagram to share a story about how the couple argued on set – only to quickly resolve it.

Ben began his tribute by saying that he was enjoying a few drinks with Rebecca while hearing the news that she had left the network.

‘Hello Bec – Have a few drinks with Rebecca while we say goodbye to her from Channel 9’ he began.

“We were thrown on Ninja Warrior together and became instant buddies. She said ‘if you’re married to Jodie you can’t be that bad’ and we just clicked.’

Ben went on to say that the pair argued on set before it was resolved with minimal fuss – illustrating Rebecca’s no-nonsense attitude.

In a shocking turn of events, Rebecca walked away from Channel Nine after nearly six years with the network over the weekend.

The star, who hosts Australian Ninja Warrior and Weekend Today, resigned after lengthy contract negotiations.

According to the Herald Sun, Maddern and Nine were “unable to agree on a new deal.”

“Bec has been a great contributor to Nine since she joined us and we wish her all the best for the future,” Nine said in a statement.

With Madern at Nine and Ben Fordham leaving his role as Ninja Warrior co-host earlier this year, the show will be looking for two brand new hosts.

The mum-of-one joined Nine in 2016, after nearly 15 years with rival Channel Seven.

Her first major role was as a co-host of the AFL Footy Show, before joining Australian Ninja Warrior in 2017.

She was chosen to host Nine’s tennis coverage in 2018 before becoming the co-host of Weekend Today in 2019.

She welcomed her first child, a daughter named Ruby in 2018, and has been open about her joy in being a good example for the youngster as a working mom.

“The nice thing about her now that she’s three is that she might just be old enough to watch the Australian Ninja Warrior a little bit,” she told Who magazine in June.

“This will be my first year showing her the series, so I’m really excited,” she added.
