Gucci has come under fire from customers and animal rights activists after he turned to the use of real tigers to advertise his latest collection.
The prestigious Italian designer has launched clothes, shoes and accessories with the name of the big cat and images of them.
The Gucci Tiger collection includes a small tote bag for £1,280 and a cotton sweatshirt for £890.
There’s also a G-Timeless 38mm watch for £750 and Ace sneakers for men for £520 to celebrate 2022 being the Chinese Year of the Tiger.

Critics of the campaign took to Instagram to express concerns about the promotion of tigers in ads in Gucci’s campaign
But the high-end fashion houses used real tigers in advertisements for the range.
In the promotions, the big cats can be seen sitting on a grand piano, curled up on carpets and prowling around.
Elisa Allen, director of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), criticized Gucci for exploiting the tigers and encouraging the illegal trade in the endangered animals.
She said, “Gucci is hopelessly out of touch with our current understanding of the needs and interests of wildlife.”

In addition to trying to promote their new tiger line, Gucci claims that using tigers is a unique way to raise much-needed funds to protect endangered species and their natural habitat.

She added: “Today’s advanced special effects capabilities mean there’s no excuse for taking animals away from their families and homes.”

Despite public protests, Gucci stated that animal welfare organization American Humane supervised the set that had animals in it

“An outside animal welfare organization, American Humane, monitored the animal set and made sure no animals were injured.”
“Tigers were photographed and filmed in a separate safe environment that complied with Gucci’s policy and were then included in the campaign.”
