Marcelo Bielsa has hit England Under-21 international Cody Drameh for his decision to ‘leave’ Leeds to join Cardiff on loan.
Drameh, 20, has played in the Premier League three times this season but asked to join the Championship club to play more matches.
Bielsa reluctantly accepted the right-back’s wish, despite his side’s injury crisis, as he didn’t want to keep a player against his will.

However, the Leeds boss said: “I didn’t think he needed to play games elsewhere. He was a very needed player with all our absences.
‘In a situation where opportunities for young people have increased, Drameh prefers to experiment outside our team.
“Obviously I’ve misjudged things because what I see as a great opportunity, those who take advantage of that position would prefer to abandon the club in search of a different kind of competition.
“Apparently, what I imagined as a great opportunity, they don’t.
“Perhaps I’m overestimating that you’re in a 20-man squad in the best league in the world.

“Of course it’s one less alternative if a player leaves. But if a player wants to leave, it makes no sense to keep him.’
As Drameh left Elland Road this week, Bielsa has confirmed that the club wants to tie up star man Raphinha.
The £60 million Brazilian winger is under contract until 2025, but has sparked interest from the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Asked about the opening of contract talks by the club, Bielsa said: “It’s a great decision. Raphinha is the best player on the team in every way.

“Physically he is the best, technically he is at the level of the best, his interpretation of the game is very wise.
“Within the group of such a powerful nation as Brazil, he shines in the Premier League and has the attention of all the major clubs in the world.
“As a result, the club’s decision can only be appreciated.”
