Trump heads to Arizona on Saturday for his first rally of the year after Biden’s bad week

Donald Trump heads to rural Arizona for his first rally of the new year to kick off the season halfway through, where he will be joined by several GOP candidates in the state he lost to Joe Biden by less than half a point.

The president is joined by three Republican lawmakers, Representatives Paul Gosar, Andy Biggs and Debbie Lesko, all of whom voted Jan. 6 to nullify the 2020 presidential results.

Mike Lindell, CEO of MyPillow, will also join the president, one of the president’s most staunch defenders in his allegations of voter fraud.

Trump’s baseless claims that the 2020 election fraud was stolen from him will likely be a central theme of the rally in Florence, about 100 miles outside of Phoenix. Trump was the first Republican to lose Arizona in 24 years.

The Copper State has become central to the fight against the former president’s electoral fraud, where a GOP-led election audit recently reaffirmed Biden’s victory.

Trump was previously scheduled to hold a press conference from his Florida resort Mar-a-Lago on the one-year anniversary of the January 6 Capitol uprising — and the certification of Biden’s victory — but was abruptly canceled and promised to talk about the ‘important topics’ during his rally in Florence.

“In light of the utter bias and dishonesty of the Jan. 6 Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the fake news media, I am canceling the Jan. 6 press conference in Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, and instead I will discuss. of those important topics at my meeting on Saturday, January 15 in Arizona,” he wrote, adding: “It will be a great crowd!”

Notably absent from the state are Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and State Attorney General Mark Brnovich, who have both argued with Trump for contesting his claims that the election had been “rigged” in their state.

On the eve of the rally, Trump made a statement calling Ducey a “weak RINO.”

Rumor has it that Doug Ducey, the weak RINO governor of Arizona, is being forced to run for the United States Senate by Old Crow Mitch McConnell. He will never get my approval or the support of MAGA Nation!’

Two of Trump’s handpicked candidates — former TV host Kari Lake for Arizona governor and Rep. Mark Finchem for Secretary of State – will be present for the meeting.

Rounding out the list of guest speakers are Kelli Ward, Arizona Republican Party chairman, Dr. Alveda King, a niece of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. who served on Trump’s 2020 advisory committee and Boris Epshteyn, an adviser to Trump’s 2020 campaign.

The January 15 rally coincides with Martin Luther King’s birthday and falls two days before MLK Day. The King family will hold a rally that same day in Phoenix to push for federal protection of voting rights, bills Trump does not support.

Trump is also likely to bask in Biden’s failures this week, where a new Quinnipiac poll found its job approval at a new low of 33% as Democrats have so far failed to pass legislation to extend the right to vote. in the Senate after months of restraint. and-again talks about his landmark Build Back Better bill also fell through.

Biden admitted Friday that he was “disappointed” when his Senate agenda stalled after a trip to Capitol Hill to beg moderate Senator Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema to join the filibuster reform needed to push through voting rights. .

“There’s a lot of talk about disappointments and things we didn’t do,” he noted. “We’re going to do a lot of it, I might add,” the president added.

Lindell, meanwhile, is sure to talk about his claims that he has enough evidence of voter fraud to put nearly the entire population of the US in jail.

“We’ve got all the pieces of the puzzle already. Speaking of evidence, we’ve got enough evidence to incarcerate everyone for life, 300-something million people,” Lindell said during a recent appearance on the Voice of Real America. “We had that all the way back in November-December, but what we have are those other things that had to happen, and that’s the evil that manifests itself.”

Trump’s choice of Arizona to start the midterm season indicates that he will make voter fraud claims central to his message ahead of the 2022 election, where Republicans have a chance to take back control of Congress, and could also be the basis for a 2024 comeback campaign for the White House.

The former president has given a series of not-so-subtle hints that he plans to run for president in 2024, but has stopped formally announcing a campaign just under three years before the race.

GB News’ Nigel Farage asked Trump at a rally in Mar-a-Lago in December: “Why would [you] do you consider going back to that hell?’

“So I love our country,” Trump said. “If you love the country, you don’t have a choice. It’s not a question.’

“This is a wonderful, beautiful life,” Trump said of his lavish existence in Palm Beach. ‘But I like that’ [being president] also because I helped people. That’s why I did it and I think you will be happy in the future too, because that will be your next question. You will be happy.’
